Wet Season North Queensland

Posted by owen59 on February 1, 2007

So this week the wet season has come upon us in earnest. My sons were to be at a wedding 450 k south but the rain has been about 100mm per day or more for the past four days and the roads are flooding. Now a cyclone is developing in the gulf of carpentaria. So it will be around for some days maybe weeks. The water will not reach the drier parts to the south. There is a big debate here in Oz about water. But there is yet little political or scientific interest in diverting sub-tropical deluges to the temperate areas. I don’t know the answer, except that doing nothing or only little things is probably not the answer.
