It is the first day of the Baha’i Fast today, so up before dawn to have breakfast. No eating or drinking until sunset. The Fast continues until March 20th, with Baha’i New Year on March 21st. My youngest son, who is now 15 years old does his first fast this year. So we’ve been up, breakfasted, said prayers. We say prayers written by the founder of the Faith, Baha’u’llah, about the fast. The one we chose to day is a long prayer with a wonderful recitation of the names of God at the end of each passage. “Thou seest me, O my God, holding to Thy Name, the Most Holy, the Most Luminous, the Most Mighty, the Most Great, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious, and clinging to the hem of the robe to which have clung all in this world and in the world to come.”
Being Sunday, my son has opted to return to bed. My wife and I are doing a few outstanding jobs.
