Waveforms and “me” and “not me” I

If observation can only occur through the function of the human neural net or at least some other interactive organic process, which are themselves, surely, waveforms, what does it mean to say that a complex series of waveforms can tell what another complex series of waveforms is doing when they interact with each other at a certain moment? How can we tell anything except about the interaction of the waveforms we call me, and the waveforms we define as “not me”. And if “me” is the outcome of 15 billion years of waveforms since a peculiarly singular event what is to say that that singular event isn’t the result of a number of complex exotic waveforms that interacted at a moment in some vaster existence. It is too weird to believe that the existence we can directly experience is an isolated phenomenon.
