As a new admirer of the work of Dambisa Moyo, I was interested to see her attendance at a one day summit in South Africa, called ‘Brand Africa’. The summit is essentially a talkfest to orientate African business leaders to getting the most out of the post-FIFA World Cup trade.
Well, I’m technically way out of my depth on the economics associated with such trade, but the speaker list made for a very interesting read. Top Billing is Simon Anholt, an expert on National Branding. Then we have Trevor Ncube of Alpha Media Holdings, Zimbabwe; Mathias Akotia an academic in Internal Branding and Performance Culture, Ghana; Mary Kimonye, Brand Kenya Board; and so it goes on.
I wish them luck. It seems to me that a peaceful, uncorrupt Africa has a lot to offer and a lot to gain in the world of trade.
